A Giant Leap forward

Problem:

PMP Medical Devices had outgrown its manual, spreadsheet-based reporting tools, causing frustratingly erroneous data and reporting and hindering its ability to accurately close financials and forecast sales; Additionally, a lack of integration between its CRM and ERP systems made it difficult to accurately track customers and to deliver exceptional customer service.

Solution:

When Mondo Analytics was contacted by a startup medical device manufacturer in Sacramento, CA, we were excited to implement some of the best new analytics technologies on the market. PMP Medical Devices’ needs to run its business had advanced beyond the manual, error-prone, spreadsheet-based reporting tools they’d been using for years. Additionally, a lack of integrations was causing a ton of pain across their organization, which didn’t have confidence in its customer data across the business. PMP’s goal was not just to implement analytics capabilities – but to take a giant leap forward to systems that would scale with their growing business, and easily integrate with all of its moving parts.

We worked with PMP to reverse engineer business rules from their spreadsheets, working with their IT team (made up of 1 FTE) to implement a new ERP system (NetSuite) and the analytics data warehouse (Snowflake). Additionally, Mondo created a world-class analytics program, which included the cloud-based application programming interface platforms necessary for their business.

In addition to equipping the sales team with real-time service issue notification capability to better support their customer base, Mondo Analytics set up the now- API-driven organization with predictive analytics capabilities so they could quickly and accurately forecast sales. This enabled the entire company to scale – and scale they did – doubling revenues over the past two years. Further API driven objectives to reduce data entry costs across departments – and across hybrid cloud platforms – achieved annual savings of $180k. These changes also supported increased employee satisfaction since changes to customer information was now automatically synchronized and streamed across the organization – eliminating the massive headaches associated with a lack of version control and stale and erroneous data.

San Francisco Bay Coffee Company - Analytics for Finance Case Study

Reporting that Fuels expansion

Problem:

When our client, a California-based gourmet coffee grower and roaster with strong sales and increasing demand from their loyal customers began even bigger investments in its internal operations, it ran into a problem. The company's vision was firmly focused on global expansion, but financial reporting requirements to keep up with that expansion threatened to bring their ERP system to a grinding halt. Implementing financial reporting on their enterprise data warehouse would help them bid good riddance to erroneous spreadsheets, hours of labor-intensive number crunching and reporting delays. But how to get there?

Solution:

With a task force and all stakeholders clearly identified, Mondo Analytics went to work, developing requirements and reviewing all processes to meet the two-month deadline. Since the existing reporting process took more than two hours and modifications could add more than 20 additional hours of processing time per day to the ERP system, the task force needed to think outside the box to enable the best possible solution.

Mondo Analytics was able create midnight processing rules that would aggregate financial data daily without any impact to the company's daily operations. In addition to offloading processing and increasing capacity on the ERP system, the data warehouse generated financial reports completed in less than five minutes, allowing their finance team to close the books 3 days faster with approximate saving of $110k annually.

This new financial reporting platform provided flexibility that just isn't possible within existing ERP systems. The solution meant the company's once-taxed accounting team now has the information and the time to focus on what's really important: growing the business.

Outcomes:

• Implemented new financial reporting platform to track sales by department to significantly reduce monthly close time and save $110k annually
